The IRS rejection code IND-181 means that the Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN) entered for the primary taxpayer is not valid. The IRS requires an IP PIN for certain filers. Even when filing a prior-year tax return, the primary taxpayer’s current IP PIN is required.
Option 1: Update your IP PIN and re-submit electronically.
If you have the correct IP PIN, simply log in to your PriorTax.com account and provide the IP PIN to resubmit it to the IRS for e-filing.
Option 2: Print and mail your tax return.
If you do not have a valid IP PIN, you cannot e-file your return. Sign in to your PriorTax.com account, download the PDF copy of your tax return to print, sign, and mail it to the IRS/State.
