Category: IRS Rejections
When you file your tax return, the IRS uses a system to check for basic errors before accepting it. If something does not match their records or a required field is missing, your return will be “rejected.” If you e-file your return, the IRS system provides a specific code to tell you exactly what went wrong. Whereas, if you paper-filed your return, you will likely receive a letter from the IRS notifying you that a correction needs to be made.
You can then correct the error and refile your return.
